For many families in the villages surrounding Nashik, sending a child to school means walking several kilometers and forgoing much-needed help at home. Our Roots of Learning initiative brings the classroom to the community instead.
Over the past six months, our volunteers set up three open-air learning centers stocked with books, stationery, and simple solar lighting so evening classes could continue. Local teachers were trained and supported with a monthly stipend, ensuring the program stays rooted in the community itself.
Alongside lessons in reading, writing, and arithmetic, every child receives a warm midday meal — a small assurance that learning never has to compete with hunger. Attendance has stayed above 90% since we began.
Help us bring this work to more communities.
